Antique Blue and White Porcelain Beer Stein Delft Style w/Lithophane by Swaine Co c. Description: Antique German porcelain beer stein made around early 1900s.

Beautiful hand-painted picture decorations in flow cobalt-blue. This is type of decoration is called "Delft style" and usually associated with Dutch porcelain. This stein was made by German company Swaine & Co (1854 - 1920) in Huttensteinach, Thuringia. Swaine produced very few steins, just 3 or 4 varieties, all with this Delft style motives.

Pewter lid with matching porcelain inlay. Nice lithophane in bottom (a picture you can see against the light) showing a tavern flirting scene. The stein shows a stamped distributor's mark "Made expressly for original Dutch Sbep" - I don't know what it is, most likely some Dutch association in the US ordered the stein from Swaine. 8.5 tall to the top of the thumblift , 0.5L capacity.
