Overview: x We are pleased to offer this exquisite late18th to early 19th century Chinese Porcelain Jar and Lid, beautifully decorated in rich underglaze cobalt blue on a white ground, depicting a pair of ferocious five-toed dragons, confronting flaming pearls amongst scrolling clouds, and ornamented with bands of lotus petals at the collar and base. The domed shaped lid in painted with a repeated scene of feverish dragons in rampant pursuit and ornamented with a'ruyi' design of lotus petals, and surmounted by a lotus bud finial.

A lavishly foliated design accents the outter rim, bordered in a double underglaze blue line. A massive Jar elegantly created in traditional Chinese taste, with thickly-potted walls, beautifully contoured with a bulbous body and short neck, covered by a cantilevered domed lid.

The intricately hand-painted decorations are heavily-glazed with a rich cobalt blue tone, of cascading washes, pooling in a thick blackened pigment at the outlined edges, and at the flat foot rim. Evaluation: THIS CHINESE JAR WAS AUTHENTICATED BY A FORMER CURATOR OF THE DENVER ART MUSEUM AS AUTHENTIC AND OF THE PERIOD. Data Observation: Excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
