BOW or LIMEHOUSE C1746-8 Soft Paste Porcelain Blue & White OCTAGONAL SERVER
This class of C1746-48 Soft paste wares are sometimes accepted as from the Limehouse factory, but there is a strong arguement for New Canton Bow. I have later bow pieces, and the glaze is quiet different, but the glaze changed over time. It measures 12.5" x 8.75" and is in as found condition as shown (the "accepted" one is similarly but to a greater extent also rivet repaired).
It too has fritting to the edge and old stapled repairs. Faint translucency and "tactile" grey blue glaze.
It has been suggested that this is in fact Bow porcelain, but the glaze is quiet different, it is very coarse, and far bluer. This is an extremely rare class of porcelain, but I have priced it realistically.
