Pair Chinese Porcelain Blue White Sauce Boats Boy and Buffalo Qianlong Qing 1780
A pair of antique Chinese export porcelain scalloped rim sauce boats hand painted with the Boy and Buffalo pattern. The inside is decorated in under-glaze cobalt blue with a village amongst rocks and trees, there are mountains in the background and a tall pagoda. The foreground has a young man or boy leading a buffalo with a whip in his hand. There are slight differences in the painting of the sauce boats as they have been painted by different artists. There is an inner scroll "dagger" border and a relatively deep outer floral scroll border. They date to the late eighteenth century, circa 1780, during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong. (1736-95) in the Qing dynasty. The sauce boats are 8 3/4 inches (22.3 cm) long, approximately 4 5/8 inches (11.8 cm) wide, and 2 1/2 inches (6.3 cm) high, 3 1/2 inches to the handle top. They are in good antique condition, each have some fritting and roughness to the glaze on the rim (glaze rubs) and the handles. One has a small filled disguised chip to the spout. These beautiful antique sauce boats both display well.

They are a very attractive pair to add to a collection of antique blue and white hand painted Chinese 18th century porcelain.
